Music Appreciation Series: Evan Jensen, Tuba Soloist

  • Stoughton Opera House 381 E. Main St. Stoughton, WI 53589 (map)

A dazzling array of musical talents will be showcased throughout the season during these hour-long programs, organized by John Beutel and sponsored by the Stoughton Area Senior Center. All Music Appreciation events are free and open to the public.

We hear the Tuba in bands and orchestras but rarely do we hear the Tuba as a solo instrument. SHS and Ripon College graduate, Evan Jensen, is currently pursuing his Masters in Tuba Performance at UW Madison. Evan Jensen, along with Evan Mitchell, his collaborative pianist, will perform a set of truly romantic music ranging from the likes of Sergei Prokofiev (1891-1953), Maurice Ravel (1875-1937), Eric Ewazen (b. 1954), and Victor Herbert (1859-1924). Only one of the pieces being performed was composed specifically for the tuba, the rest are arrangements that have been created for a tuba soloist. Evan Jensen and Evan Mithcell are incredibly excited to perform for you all!
