Opera for the Young: Super Storm

A storm is brewing and it's sure to be thrilling! Opera for the Young has commissioned a brand new opera for young audiences: librettist Diane Garton Edie and composer Scott Gendel (both from Madison, WI) have already begun their work on Super Storm. This original opera showcases individuality and cooperation. Four very different vocalists discover their unique strengths when caught in a Super Storm. Students from each school play abandoned cats and dogs hiding out in the same cave during the bad weather. A lot happens…

Opera for the Young brings live, professional opera to elementary school audiences. Each year, OFTY reaches over 75,000 elementary school children throughout the Midwest to ignite an enthusiasm for opera. All productions are fully staged, sung in English and adapted especially for kids.
