Having co-founded the groundbreaking group Fairport Convention as a teenager in the 60’s, Thompson and his mates virtually invented British folk rock. Since then, Thompson has spent over 30 years as a highly successful solo artist, creating over 40 albums and numerous soundtracks and earning many Grammy nominations and Lifetime Achievement Awards for Songwriting. As an in-demand live performer, the past two years saw Richard Thompson headlining dates around the world, co-headlining shows with Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell, and participating in the Americanarama Tour with Bob Dylan, Wilco, and My Morning Jacket - which culminated with Dylan performing Thompson’s classic “1952 Vincent Black Lightning”.
